The Extraordinaries and Brothersong Postponed (Don't Freak!)
Hey, all--
Some news. Given the ever evolving nature of the current pandemic with COVID19, many industries have been hit unexpectedly, and have been scrambling to play catch up in this unprecedented situation. The publishing industry is no exception. While my tour for The House in the Cerulean Sea was postponed and the book released, what you didn't see was the awesome people of Macmillan/Tor/Tor Teen working their butts off to try and help their authors make sense of this all. They have truly been wonderful, even when certain authors (read: me) found themselves filled with an extreme amount of anxiety.
Here's the thing. We don't know when things will go back to normal. We have to start planning now, though, in order to best decide how to proceed.
As such, my team at Tor Teen and Hatchett UK and I have agreed to push back the release date of The Extraordinaries from MAY 5 to JULY 14. This will not affect any pre-orders. All sites will be updated accordingly, and you won't have to do anything else if you've already pre-ordered. Your purchase will remain safe, so please don't try and order it again (unless you really, really want to have multiple copies, that is).
Here are some awesome things going on for The Extraordinaries right now!
Also, Book Riot is holding a contest right now were five people will win an advanced copy of the The House in the Cerulean Sea! This is open to US residents only.

Now, this brings me to Brothersong.
The Green Creek Fandom has been wonderfully patient in the last year or so, letting me fight my battles with my former publisher in order to protect my work. You allowed me to push back the date for Heartsong one month, and when the book came out, you immediately made it one of my biggest sellers. Thank you for that.
Given how proud I am of The Extraordinaries, I didn't think it fair to only allow the story to have a month's time in the spotlight. It's an important book to me. I wanted to give it room to breathe, and if I kept the original release date for Brothersong (Aug 18), I worried that it might become lost in the shuffle. So I made the difficult--but ultimately necessary decision--to move Brothersong's release date to TUESDAY, OCTOBER 13. While I know people are anxious for the final chapter of the Bennett Pack, I hope you can understand the reasons behind this decision. It wasn't one I made lightly, and though this is hard for all of us in the publishing industry, I want to do right by my books.
We'll come through this. I know we will. Please follow the guidelines set out by our elected officials, and take care of each other.
Thanks,
tj

Well, Brothersong is THE book of the year for me (and out the month of my birthday), but I totally get it, and having just finished House in the Cerulean Sea last night (perfection), a year in shutdown is TOTALLY made better by the release of THREE TJ books, thanks for bringing us joy in a turbulent year.
You are such a talent, Bringing all the feels through such gifted storytelling. Sorry you missed your tour and connecting directly with the fans. Digital adoration (for now) will have to do. Thanks TJ. Mal (#1 Aussie fan)

So much is changing as we wait this out. Totally understand your reasoning. Definitely will wait because it’s always worth it. House of the Cerulean Sea is brilliant. Stay safe, be well and I look forward to your release dates.

We love your books and we'll wait. <3

Completely understandable. Of course I’m sad about having to wait longer for Brothersong ESPECIALLY since Aug 18th is my birthday and that would’ve been super cool. Take care of yourself and stay safe.

This is a strange new world for all of us and we need to roll with it. Heeding the words of the serenity prayer is all most of can do right now. I’m thrilled that Cerulean was able to come out on time (about ⅔ through the audio right now) and will wait patiently for Extraordinaries. Stay safe & healthy!
